With Halloween on the horizon, there’s plenty to be excited about. It’s time for house parties, dressing up in costumes, and a great excuse to eat sweets. There’s only one problem, wherever there’s fun, there’s also mess. Whether it’s glitter, cobwebs, or candy stuck to the carpet. Such annoyances are the stuff of nightmares.
But there’s no need to get spooked out so soon. If you know how to clean up the right way, you can wipe away such horrors in a flash. Even for the most stubborn stains, a few quick tips and a bottle of El Milagrito’s degreaser are all you need. Rest assured, you won’t be having any post-Halloween nightmares with these cleaning tips for Halloween.
Glitter Removal – Because Not All That Glitters is Gold
Glitter leaves its mark wherever it goes, and not in a good way. At first, its presence seems innocent. It shines from somebody’s costume and seems to do little else. But when the party’s over, you find it’s all over the floor, the carpet, and even the sofa. Yikes!
Sadly, there’s no magic wand that can simply wish those glittering stains away, but there is something you can have on hand that will do the trick. What you need is a lint roller. You may have used one of these before for removing cat or dog hair from your clothes. Roll one of those over glitter stains, and it will go to town on every little spec.
But what about the toughest areas where the glitter is being stubborn? There could be little corners where the roller doesn’t fit. For those, use a vacuum cleaner with a crevice tool.
As for those glitter marks that still won’t go away, just give them a spray of El Milagrito degreaser, let it sit for a couple of minutes, then scrub the surface clean.
Pumpkin Stains – The Stuff of Nightmares
Everybody loves jack-o’-lanterns on Halloween, but do you know what everyone hates? The stains left behind on random surfaces after you’ve scooped out their insides. Somehow, pumpkin gets everywhere. You might find it on the kitchen table, the floor, or elsewhere. So, how do you get rid of it?
For the big parts, as in lumps, you can start by scooping it away with a large spoon or spatula. Then, simply wipe down the surface with a damp cloth. You’ll find that, for the most part, these stains will wipe away easily. But what about when they don’t?
If they’ve been there for a while, they’ll be harder to remove. All you need, however, is a couple of sprays of El Milagrito degreaser, two minutes or so of patience to let it sit, and then the will to wipe it all away. That’s it! The surface will be spotless again.
Sticky Stains from Sugary Sweets
Sugary sweets mean sticky fingers, and sticky fingers mean stubborn stains. After eating some sweets, the little ones will be touching door handles, chairs, tables, and elsewhere. But sticky stains won’t stick around if you stick to our plan for stopping them. Normally, a quick spray of our degreaser will do, but what about the tough ones?
Imagine there’s a sticky patch on the carpet that refuses to budge. First, try to scrape the bulk of it up with a butterknife. Then dab it with a damp cloth, but don’t rub or it might smudge and spread. Finally, grab your bottle of El Milagrito degreaser, then spray, wait, and wipe your horrors away.
Do Away with Decorative Debris
From cobwebs to bats and skeletons hanging around from every corner of the house, don’t be surprised if little bits and pieces from your decorations end up falling onto surfaces where they don’t belong, especially if they’re paper decorations. So, what’s the best way to deal with them?
Use a dustpan and brush or even a broom to sweep them up. For trickly little corners, you can give them a hoover instead. If you used scotch tape to stick things up, a couple of sprays of our degreaser will remove any sticky residue with ease.
Spills That Give The Chills
Drinks, dipping sauces, dropped foods, slime, you name it. It’s typical of Halloween parties that when all is over, a few liquids have been spilled, leaving behind a stain or two. Here’s what you can do about them.
If they’re on hard surfaces such as a wooden or tiled floor, normally a quick wipe with a damp cloth or even a paper towel can be enough to do the job. For larger ones on the floor, you can get rid of them with a quick mop.
If they’ve ended up on carpets or sofas, try to remove as much of the leftover liquid by dabbing them, and then use El Milagrito for any mark that still remains.
